Field Note #2: The Beetle Didn’t Say Anything, but I Got the Message

I found a beetle today that had tiny gold dots on its back. It looked like it had something important to say. So I crouched down real quiet and waited.

It didn’t do anything.

So I waited longer.

Still nothing.

It just sat there, like it was busy thinking.

So I sat too.

After a while, it walked away. Not in a hurry or anything. Just slow. Like it didn’t need to explain itself.

I don’t know what the message was.

But I think I got it anyway.

Then I had a cracker. For thinking.
